It seems like 2012 might just have to be called the Year of One Direction. Just after Billboard magazine announced that the British boy banders had won the honors of Top New Artist in 2012, MTV announced that staffers had voted 1D Artist of the Year!
“MTV, we cannot thank you enough. Artist of the Year, it is an absolute honor,” Louis said. “We’ve had an amazing year and this is the icing on the cake, so thank you so much.”
Harry also gave thanks to MTV, and to 1D’s incredible fans!
“We want to thank you, MTV for all your support. You’ve supported us from very early on,” Harry said. “And a massive thank you to all the fans. This wouldn’t be possible without you, so thank you once again. This is amazing and we’ll see you soon.”
MTV also gave awards to Carly Rae Jepsen (Song of the Year for “Call Me Maybe”) and Demi Lovato (for having the most passionate fans — great job, Lovatics!).
