What made Jennifer Lawrence connect to Katniss Everdeen the first time she read the script for The Hunger Games? Was it a shared love of archery? Indifference to love triangles? Strong will?
Nope. It was actually that awkward feeling when you’re being all dressed up and that’s not who you are. Do you know the feeling? Jen says she had it big time during her first ever Oscar season (she was nominated for her movie Winter’s Bone), so she knew exactly how Katniss felt being dolled up at the Capitol.
“I read the Hunger Games books when it was Oscar season, so for the first time I was in these dresses which didn’t look like me and didn’t feel like me,” Jen told Vanity Fair. “I felt like a walking rag doll. I remember sitting there in hair and makeup, listening to the things that they were talking about, and most of the things I didn’t even know…. So I read that and I was like, ‘I know exactly how that feels.’â€
