One Direction’s new single “Perfect” is totally about Taylor Swift, and these lyrics prove it.
1. “I might never be your knight in shining armor.” It’s no secret Taylor continuously hopes her own fairytale romance will come true. From “White Horse” to “Love Story,” Taylor has shown she will never give up her dream of finding someone, one day, who will sweep her off her feet.
2. “But if you like causing trouble up in hotel rooms and if you like having secret little rendezvous.” During their entire relationship, Taylor and Harry had to find secret places to meet because they were always swarmed by paparazzi (see number 5 below). When they were occasionally spotted out on walks or dates, it sometimes included being seen leaving the same hotel.
3. “And if you like midnight driving with the windows down” Yes, Taylor definitely does. We all know that because Taylor admits in “Style” (which was SO written about Harry), “Midnight, you come and pick me up, no headlights.”
4. “I might never be the hand you put your heart in or the arms that hold you any time you want them. But that don’t mean that we can’t live here in the moment.” Taylor and Harry have some of the busiest schedules, so they couldn’t always be together, even when they wanted to. This meant that whenever they were together, they had to make the most of their time.
5. “And if you like cameras flashing every time we go out and if you’re looking for someone to write your breakup songs about.” Oh yeah. That. Just. Happened! Taylor is the queen of breakup songs and has been called out.
