We are amazed by Veronica Dunne!

We caught up with the 21-year-old actress, who just two weeks ago made her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in ‘Chicago,’ to talk about her love of musical theater, dream role and more.

TigerBeat: First of all, congrats on your Broadway debut!

Veronica Dunne: Thank you!

TigerBeat: Welcome! So when did you first fall in love with Broadway?

Veronica Dunne: Oh my goodness! I can’t even remember, it was so long ago. I’ve always, always loved theatre and musical theatre. Broadway was my first love. I can’t tell you the moment it happened, it’s just always been there, my love for it.

TigerBeat: Your dad was in the iconic Blues Brothers. Did he have any influence on your love of music?

Veronica Dunne: Absolutely! I mean, all I heard my whole life was piano playing from his room and he’s such a brilliant comedic actor. He truly is the funniest guy I know and that has also played a huge influence on my acting and the roles I’ve chosen.

TigerBeat: Is there one musical, looking back on it, that you saw when you were younger and told yourself, ‘I want that to be me’?

Veronica Dunne: I remember seeing ‘Wicked,’ and being like, ‘I’m gonna play Glenda.’ I’ve been in the mix for that role for a really long time. We’ve just been trying to find the right time when I can step into it.

TigerBeat: How did it feel when you took your bow and realized, ‘I just made my Broadway debut’?

Veronica Dunne: That was the best feeling ever! They surprised me with a huge bouquet of red roses, and if you look at the pictures, you will see just pure joy. I made a speech thanking my family and friends for supporting me, and everyone was crying. Even Zendaya said she just started bawling.

TigerBeat: How did it feel having all your friends and family there supporting you?

Veronica Dunne: So amazing. After opening night, I came home and told my mom, ‘Wow I’m so lucky. I have so many amazing support systems in my life.’
