Former Emblem3 singer Wesley Stromberg is back with brand new music, and it’s more heartfelt and honest than ever.
Wes teamed up with producer Alek Fin to create an upcoming EP titled “Sýna,” which will feature the duo’s newly released single, “If Only”.
Check out what Wes and Alek had to spill about their new project!
TigerBeat: How did the two of you meet and begin working together?
Wesley: Honestly, we shouldn’t know each other. We met as a CRAZY coincidence! My manager’s mom picked up Alek’s mom from the airport in Miami as an Uber driver. They both started talking about their kids and exchanged info. Edgel and Alek decided it might be cool for Alek to meet me and produce one of my songs. PERFECT FIT haha! The day we met is the day we wrote and recorded “If Only”.

TigerBeat: What was your writing process like?
Alek: The lyrics and ideas for the songs came from Wes. I took the composer/producer role. He would bring in a line or hook (which were always one better than the next!) and then we’d dig into what the song is about and give it a name. Once we both agreed on the story we were trying to tell, I’d build the composition and instrumentation around that.
TigerBeat: What inspired the meaning behind your single “If Only”?
Wesley: It all sparked from a conversation I had with my dad about our lives. Mistakes that were made, things he wishes he could have changed.
“Don’t let material possessions blind you from the fact that you already have it all.”
TigerBeat: Tell me about the title of your EP, “Sýna”. How did you decide on it and what does it represent?
Alek: “Sýna” is the Icelandic translation of the word “Reveal”. We both felt this EP reveals another side of ourselves and our work as artists that no one would expect. We loved the sound of the Icelandic translation and it just felt right.
