Is there an overall goal behind your videos?
Brooklyn: We love doing skits and making our viewers laugh, lightening up life with jokes and humor but mostly, our channel is based around being relatable and connecting with people on that level.

Do you ever feel like your personal lives are too exposed in the public eye?
Brooklyn: We’re teenage girls, so we’ve shared videos about periods, about breakups…our personal lives are something that we’re willing to share in order to show all of our girls that what they’re going through, we’re also going through, and that we relate to them.

You have some pretty amazing followers. Have you ever had any super memorable fan encounters?
Bailey: We actually have this group message chat on Instagram with all these super, super active fan pages!
Brooklyn: We even had a fan sleepover last year, where we all talked all night in the GM and watched the same movies at the same time.
Bailey: And we finally got to meet several of the girls on tour. I freaked out! It’s like meeting a long distance best friend.

You’re just getting the ball rolling on your musical careers. Have you always been singers?
Brooklyn: We’ve been singing since we were born, basically: school, church, anything and everything. We’ve always had that passion but when we started to grow on YouTube, it became more of a reality that we could explore and branch into.

Is music something you see yourselves continuing to pursue in the future?
Bailey: Definitely. Our entire goal is to branch out with our brand, just try everything while we can. We’re working on music. We’re working on merch. We just developed our own mascara. And obviously we have YouTube!

Who do you look up to as a role model?
Brooklyn: I love Emma Watson. She’s such a powerful woman, and she stands up for women’s rights, which is something Bailey and I find super important.
Bailey: Plus, our mom. She’s been the one that’s always been there, and she’s the reason that we’re on YouTube.

Your mom started her Cute Girls Hairstyles channel back in 2009. How did she get involved in YouTube to begin with?
Bailey: At first, it was just a place to house her videos that she was posting to her blog. Months later, when YouTube emailed her and asked to be partners, she thought it was a scam because it was so unwell known!

A lot has changed since then! Do you see a power and a strength in having an online presence?
Brooklyn: One thing we’re always aware of though, is the responsibility that comes with that influence, being on YouTube. We’re so focused on putting out a positive message because part of that power is recognizing your influence and turning into something good.

You’re only 18-years-old — seniors in high school right now. How do you balance it all?
Brooklyn: We’ve been doing it so long that it’s just second nature now. We definitely have the always-on-the-go personalities that fit with the crazy schedule we live. If you put your mind to it, you can do it all!
