Sabrina Carpenter’s new collab with Jonas Blue is an extraterrestrial bop, but it turns out the meaning behind “Alien” isn’t so literal after all.
The songstress recently opened up to People about the inspiration for the song: Feeling emotions so indescribable, they were totally alien to her.
“As a teenage girl, my feelings and emotions are always kind of really indescribable, and they change really quickly and really fast,” Sabrina said. “We describe not being able to describe how I was feeling, and once we kind of played around with ‘alien’ as a feeling instead of an actual solid thing or object, it became emotional.”
“The goal for the song was to have as many people related to it as they can, and I think everyone no matter what age you are can relate to being alienated in your own feelings.”
But of course there is the literal interpretation as well, which Sabrina seems to be pretty OK with.
If this isn’t a #LOOK than we don’t know what is.
