“Being on since the first season, we’ve really, truly been able to make these characters our own. Although we play ourselves, they’re actually characterized versions of ourselves that have just gotten more and more insane over the seasons. It’s really cool being able to go from just playing this dry humor character in season one, to really building out this personality.”

How has your relationship with Awesomeness TV grown over the years?
Lauren: I’ve been lucky enough to be with Awesomeness since, the day I moved to Los Angeles, when I just turned 19. I started as an intern, and then was a host, and a writer, and a producer all in the Hollywood pop culture area. Luckily, they took a chance on me when I decided I wanted to start acting, and they put me in my first sketch comedy skit. They really opened the door for me to comedy in general, and they were the ones that really encouraged me.

Are there any ways you’ve matured or found yourself within your comedy?
Lauren: I grew up knowing I was a class clown, but never considering myself a comedian. So, it wasn’t until I realized that everyone was laughing with me and not at me, and they encouraged me to do comedy over at Awesomeness, that I kind of really started making that my focus, and my goal. I’ve definitely just matured as a comedian and being able to do viral stuff with Awesomeness has been amazing.  So, I’ve definitely been able to grow with them over these few years.

Have you gotten a positive reaction from fans in terms of your comedy?
Lauren: Oh my God, yeah. My fans think it’s hysterical. And everyone that I force to watch it loves it.

Would you say that AwesomenessTV had a really big piece in helping you find your confidence?
Lauren: Oh yeah, definitely. I think AwesomenessTV, honestly, made me who I am today. I remember watching one of the first things they ever put on their channel. Audrey Whitby, a co-star of mine, was actually in it. And I remember sitting in my high school bedroom being like, “That’s my dream. I want to be doing that with her. That’s my number one goal. I’ll know I’ve made it when I’m on AwesomenessTV with girls like Audrey Whitby.”

Throughout your whole career, you’ve been really open about everything going on in your life, do you think that it’s been helpful for you to talk about it on your platform?
Lauren: I think it helped me being able to talk about it, and being able to put it into words and inspire other people, because it just makes me feel better too. I’m just someone who loves sharing, and being able to have this platform where I can touch so many people, it makes me feel fulfilled in a way.

Do you have any tips for our readers to get that perfect Insta?
Lauren: I do this really weird thing where I use the teeth whitener on apps, like Facetune, and instead of using it to whiten teeth, I whiten the background of every single picture so that everything’s super bright and aesthetically pleasing. No one really knows that, but once I tell people, their minds are blown. I’ve taught so many girls how to whiten the background of their photos.

Do you have any advice for girls going into their teen years, especially if they have aspirations to do the same thing you’re doing?
Lauren: My main takeaway of advice, especially for teen girls, is you don’t have to be something you’re not. You don’t have to try to be something else. Honestly, the most incredible thing you can do is be yourself, as cheesy as it sounds. But, if I didn’t start being myself, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Try to stay true to yourself and remember that nothing you see on the internet is real, everyone’s Facetuning their pictures, everyone’s showing only the good angles and the good poses.

Do you have any projects coming up that you’re super excited about?
Lauren: I definitely have some stuff that’s really, really epic coming out this year. I hate not being able to actually say what it is. Something is actually, legitimately coming this year that is tangible, and the most epic thing I’ve ever done. So, you guys will definitely be hearing about it in the next couple months, but that’s all I can say for now.
