In case you missed it, the 13-year-old dynamic duo is starring in Innersight Entertainment’s brand-new web series alongside some of our all-time favorite young actors — like Madison Hu, Brooke Butler and Hayden Summerall! To celebrate last week’s series premiere, we caught up with the totally talented twins.
Keep scrolling for the behind-the-scenes scoop on everything from the hilarious pranks the twins pulled on one another between takes to what they’re most looking forward to in season two and more. And don’t miss “Sage Alexander: The Dark Realm” episode two, airing today on TigerBeat TV’s YouTube channel!
You both attended the “Sage Alexander” launch party last weekend. What was the highlight?
Bianca: I felt so honored and grateful and proud to be standing there with the amazing cast and crew. I had so much fun hanging out with them and my family and my friends and the producers, and just having an amazing time!
Chiara: Of course, I loved the scooters and the cotton candy, but hanging out with the castmates and dancing on the dance floor was just so much fun. We danced all night and watched the episode. I danced so much, I broke my shoe!
This project is very different from everything else that the two of you have worked on. Have you always been fans of the fantasy genre?
Bianca: I love watching “Harry Potter” and all Sci-Fi stuff! I’m really into “Stranger Things” too! To prepare, we were just reading a lot of the books and just sprucing up and learning more about the Sci-Fi aspect.
Do you feel like the plot of the web series stays pretty true to the books? Or will readers and fans of the books be surprised at certain points?
Bianca: I feel like it strays away a little bit from the book, because in the book there isn’t twins. So, me and Chiara bring in something new to the table, and it’s nothing like you’ve ever seen before!
What was it like working on such a spooky set?
Chiara: As I walked on set, I was so excited because I love haunted houses. We filmed in a haunted house! During our free time, I would walk around the haunted house and I would see the other castmates like Hayden and Brooke, and also my sister. It was just really fun!
Bianca: All the little details, the locks on the cage and everything were real! The cage was actually locked. Funny story is that we actually got locked in the cage and Hayden was trying to open it, but we couldn’t actually open it, so we just had to go through the actual bars!
Do you have a favorite filming memory?
Bianca: We pranked each other a lot on set! In the haunted house, there are scary sets and costumes everywhere and dead bodies, so Chiara decided to hide behind one of the dead bodies in the meat room, and I happened to be walking to set, and Chiara just jumped out from behind one of the dead bodies, and I was so freaked out. It was hilarious!
What was the hair and makeup process like to transform into your characters every day?
Bianca: We had to be dirtified for our characters. We had to have our hair all wonky, face, toes, legs, nails, everything you can imagine, dirtified. The funny part is that we left, right after we filmed, we got to the airport and we actually had to take a shower in the airport. That’s how crazy we looked walking into the Dallas airport!
If you could play any other character on “Sage Alexander: The Dark Realm,” who would you want to play?
Bianca: I would love to play the girl version Sage Alexander, just to help everyone and be the leader of the group. That would be such an amazing role to play.
Chiara: I was about to say the same thing. I would love to be a female character of Sage Alexander!
What can fans expect to see from your characters in season two?
Chiara: We can’t really share too much about it, but Bianca and I have special gifts, really fun powers to use in the show, and we help people later on. It’s going to be really exciting to see what we do to help the other castmates get through this journey.
