What was the biggest surprise about making a clothing line?
Emma: It’s easy to draw a shirt, right. But, what goes into making that shirt, I didn’t get that. So, they have to source fabric. And, then buy a bunch of that fabric, then send it to a manufacturer so the manufacturer can sew the clothes, and make the clothes, whatever. It’s not like it’s all done in one place; you’re pulling from different areas to make everything go together.
What was the vibe you were going for with these pieces?
Emma: I wanted to make it really simple. Not as go out and get crazy. I kind of wanted to make it my closet staples, if that makes sense. Like the things that I could not live without, whatever. With the jackets that I have, those are go-to jackets that I would wear on a daily basis. I could easily switch between those for the rest of my life and be fine. Also, same things with the tops. Those are very simple, things that you could pair with anything: jeans, skirts, any kinds of pants, whatever. And it would match with everything because its so simple. Then scrunchies, duh.

How did you come up with the color palette?
Emma: I’ve always loved primary colors, but the thing with blue is that I personally am a big lover of denim and so I think that in an outfit, a lot of the times, your blue comes with the denim. So, I basically was trying to make everything you could wear it with denim, and you would still have the primary color vibe.
What does “High Key” mean to you?
Emma: To me, I would say it’s basically a little extreme. A little bit much. A little bit, ‘Wow!’ Low key is kind of chill. So, high key, obviously if you do the math you know, I guess would just be a lot. That’s like the only explanation.
In case you missed it, Emma recently snagged the Breakout Creator award at the 2018 Streamys!
