KJ Apa was just living in New Zealand when he landed one life-changing audition!

The Archie Andrews actor – who is killing it on “Riverdale” and in latest movie “The Hate U Give” – is dishing in a recent interview all about how he came to be the huge on-screen star we know and love today. And the best part? KJ revealed that, after joining a talent agency in his home country when he was 13 years old, he didn’t do many auditions, but took a chance on one that ended up changing his life!

“They asked me to audition for this soap opera…To this day I still don’t actually know why I did that, because I was so uncomfortable going in, but I still did it…I forced myself to just go and do it. Which is kind of crazy, because that decision is the reason why I’m here.”

We love the way KJ stepped outside his comfort zone and decided to just go for it! We definitely can’t imagine any other boy next door on “Riverdale.”
