Meet CNCO!

Since forming on the Spanish language singing competition “La Banda” back in 2015, these five bilingual baes (Joel Pimentel, Richard Camacho, Erick Brian Colón, Christopher Vélez, and Zabdiel De Jesús) have broken major YouTube records with their “Reggaetón Lento (Bailemos)” music video, sold out shows all over the world, and captured the hearts of millions of fans, and they’re not slowing down any time soon!

Keep scrolling to get the inside scoop on all things CNCO, and be sure to grab a copy of our Winter 2019 issue (out now!) to catch their full feature.

“We’re super close, we love our fans. That’s why we call them CNCOwners. Because our fans are; they are the ones who created us.”

Was it difficult to take five artists and find a common sound?
Richard: At first, it was super difficult and it was kind of awkward between us because we’re all from different places. But after touring and being together 24/7, we stopped thinking individually, [even though] we auditioned individually as our own artists. Now we think as a group. We started writing and communicating and understanding one another’s backgrounds. So now we’re a band…we’re brothers. We’re family.

How are you different from other boy bands?
Erik: We are all from different countries, and I think we are the first band that has that!
Joel: Some fans can relate to one of us more than others, because we all have way different personalities. We’re all from different places, different backgrounds. We can each connect with a different group in a personal way.

How would you describe your music?
Christopher: We’d really like to be known as a boy band that can sing a variety of things, all type of genres, because we’re all from different countries and we want to show that. We want to show the cultures we have and that we come from. Right now we’re focusing on Latin music, but we have a lot more variety planned.

As a group, what artists do you draw inspiration from?
Zabdiel: We’re inspired by so many artists! I like Sam Smith, Adele, NSync, Backstreet Boys, The Beatles, Jackson Five, Menudo.

What’s it like taking the stage with your four best friends?
Richard: It feels amazing because you’re not there by yourself, so if anything goes wrong, you know that you have four brothers to back you up…if I get confused or I lose a lyric or a piece of choreography, the rest of the boys are always gonna take over.
Christopher: And not only onstage, everywhere! We have each other’s backs.

You’re backed by music industry moguls Simon Cowell and Ricky Martin. What’s the best piece of advice they’ve given you?
Joel: They always tell us to stay grounded, stay humble, to remember where we come from, to always be ourselves. And to love what we do, ’cause if we don’t love it, it’s going be boring and we’re not going to want to keep doing it. That’s what we try to do every day, and we love it!

In case you missed it, the boys of CNCO recently celebrated their three-year anniversary in the best way!
