Representation is so important in Hollywood!

And Camila Mendes is giving her take on it! In a recent interview, the “Riverdale” starlet not only told the story about how she got started in the entertainment industry, but dished on why it’s so important that her show makes changes from the original comic to add representation where there may not be any.

Camila even reveals that fans of the show have reached out to her saying they feel represented as Latinas with her portrayal as Veronica. She’s realizing that now, at 24-years-old, she has a chance to make a difference and is working on using her platform to do just that. We can’t wait to see what Camila has in store for the future!

“The fact that Veronica’s Latina was something that I thought was a very positive change to make. Also, the fact that it’s a Latinx family is very important because we’re being portrayed in a way that not all Latinx characters get to be portrayed. They’re powerful and sophisticated, and I think that’s not something you see a lot in the media.”
