How was being on the “Holly Hobbie” set different than anything you’ve done before?
Ruby: This was my first time being on a series, let alone being a lead on a series. So, showing up on set and having everyone know your name, know what you were there for, it was unreal. I was really confused at first. But it was really cool. I was really nervous but excited at the same time, but everyone made me feel welcome.

Was becoming an actress always a dream of yours?
Ruby: Yes! Ever since I was 3-years-old I would point at the TV screen and be like, “I wanna do that, I wanna do that!” And I actually got into the business by mistake. We signed up on this website, so I could do a professional theater production, and my manager contacted me. So, she helped me get started in the business.

Are there any similarities between you and your character, Holly?
Ruby: Yes. As soon as I saw the role, I was like, Oh my gosh, this is such a cute role. I felt like it’d be so easy and fun to play this role because I am so much like her. I felt like it was the perfect character for me to play, especially with it being my first series, because I didn’t have to worry too much about having to really focus on how to become this character because I already pretty much was her.

Did you get a chance to help write any of the original music that fans will hear on the show?
Ruby: I did not, but I actually have a couple more songs coming out soon, and when I showed them to the producers, they were like, “Oh my gosh, you wrote these?” And I was like, “Yeah.” And they were like, “Alright, we may have to get you in with the songwriters to write second season.” So, I’m crossing my fingers.

Holly is always dreaming about saving the world. What’s one way you would save the world?
Ruby: I would probably do everything I could to reduce online bullying and cyberbullying. Fix the social media world, make it more positive and empowering, and more supportive.

Ruby also has a budding music career. Check out the music video for her latest and greatest single “Young Love”!
