Maddie Ziegler Opens Up About Learning to Accept Her Imperfections

Nobody’s perfect…not even Maddie Ziegler!

Along with her little sister Mackenzie Ziegler, the 16-year-old dancer (who got her career start on “Dance Moms“) recently stopped by the skating rink to take a lesson from Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon, and opened up about how she’s learned to accept — and embrace! — her imperfections. We’re totally obsessed with this message!

While getting warmed up on the ice, Maddie explained that stepping away from the intense judgements involved in competitive dance world was what allowed her to let loose and grow more comfortable with herself:

“When we were doing competitive dancing, we were told always to be perfect and look pretty and you have to win and then I learned, once I started working with Sia especially, imperfections are more beautiful and you don’t always have to look put together. I was able to let go and not be so hard on myself.”
