The 23-year-old singer recently spilled all the details on how the song came together, even revealing how something he overheard in a sandwich shop in Sweden inspired the song’s tempo!
And as for the famous three-syllable catchphrase? All it took was a writing session between the South Africa native and his best friend to come up with the perfect line:
“I was writing with my best friend, Leland, and we were going back and forth. And we had ‘Oh my’ and ‘Oh my my,’ and then we just thought of ‘My my my’ and I just loved it. I didn’t know what it meant at the time, but I knew that it made me feel really good…to me that’s what you say when you don’t know what else to say”
We can’t imagine the song any other way, and neither can Troye!
