How to Get The Look
Follow our easy how to guide to achieve Katy's dramatic look!
Katy Perry
Katy is know for her crazy hair and wild makeup. That's why we think it's so fun to try and create her looks when we are hanging out with our friends!
Step 1: Clean Your Face
We know that we say this in every tutorial, but before you start applying any make up you always want to make sure to wash and moisturize your face. This gives us a nice clean canvas to work with. You’ll also want to make sure to wash your hands really well that way no germs get on your face and cause breakouts!
Step 2: Foundation!
There are three things that Katy really focused on in this look, her brows, her lips, and her skin. We’re going to start with the all over face first. Katy always has a really “doll-like†look her face that hides any flaws. She achieves this by applying a really thick and heavy foundation. Apply the foundation all over with your clean hands. The warmth from you hands will help “melt†the foundation into your face and give you a more even look. Make sure to blend all the edges, so blend it into your hairline, by your ears, and down your neck.
Step 3: Powder!
Now to make sure all the foundation stays in place and to add extra coverage grab a fluffy brush and buff in some powder that's close to your skin tone.
Step 4: Top Eyeliner
The first thing you will want to do is sharpen your eyeliner, this helps when you are trying to draw a precise line but it also helps get rid of any germs on your eyeliner. Katy has pretty thick eyeliner in this look so you’ll want to draw a thick line all across your eyelid, making sure to get as close to your eyelashes as possible. If you mess up, don’t fret! Just take a cotton swab, dip it in some makeup remover or water and use it as an eraser to get rid of the wandering eyeliner.
Step 5: Waterline!
Next you will want to line your waterline, this helps makes the white of your eyes pop and makes your eyes appear larger.
Step 6: Purple Brows!
Katy is a bit on the wild side when it comes to her hair color and her eyebrows are not left out. To make them match her purple hair she adds just a bit of a purple hue to her brows. To do this all you need is a medium purple color and lightly stroke it throw the brows with small fluffy brush.
Step 7: Mascara!
Add some mascara and your eyes are done!!
Step 8: Purple Lips!
Katy's lips are definitely the focal point of her look. You'll want to get a dark purple lipstick and carefully apply it to your lips. If you get a bit out of the lines, don't worry take a little bit of your foundation and carefully smooth it around the outer side of the lips to clean the look up.
Step 9: Too Dark!
If you find that your dark purple is darker than what you were going for, like we did, don't worry it's super easy to fix! Just blot the color by pressing your lips on a napkin, and then apply a lighter color (or a couple lighter colors) until you get the color that you want. After that you are all done!
