How do you feel about the show [Alexa & Katie] getting renewed for a second season?
Kerri: I think it’s so exciting, just because I think there’s a lot of storylines that need to be furthered in some of the characters on the show, so it gives an opportunity to see what’s coming up next. Even, especially, other characters that maybe haven’t had more episodes. They can be coming back or even my character, as it is. We’re going to figure out who she is and just further her storyline a little bit more than season one presented.

How would you describe your character?
Kerri: You know, when I first went into it, I considered her a very over the top Regina George. It’s really what I created her in my head, and I see her as very perfectionist. She very wants everything her way. The world kind of has to center around her, and she wants everyone to love her, even though it might not seem that way, but she feels that way.

Would you say that you’re similar or different to her?
Kerri:
I don’t think we’re that alike. I think she’s way, way sassier than I am as a person, but I think, sometimes in the perfectionist way, I want to be perfect with my work in general, and she wants to be perfect in her world that she’s in, so I think that’s the only thing we have alike.

It’s cool to get to play a character that’s kind of different from you. That’s awesome!
Kerri:
Yeah, I almost feel it’s a break from myself, and I get to transform into this other person and live this other life, which I find really satisfying and really cool.

What does the cast do between takes?
Kerri:
Let’s see, oh, always dancing around, I believe. So, after we do a take, just to kind of release the energy of the tension, or even what the scene was about, we kind of just goof off a little bit and just laugh it off. You know, taking myself out of the situation for a little bit, and then we dive back in as soon as they call, “Action.”

Now, shifting gears a little bit, we know that you’re also a musician. Do you have anything in the works, music-wise?
Kerri:
Yeah, I’m currently writing. I want to put out another EP. Eventually, by this year, that’s my goal, is to put another project out. I’ve been writing for films recently, to get film placements.

And you toured last year with the Plain White T’s. How was that experience for you?
Kerri:
It was so exciting. People talk about tour all the time and how exciting and thrill and adrenaline rushing it is, but I never knew how it felt until the first day I walked out on stage. It was like this overwhelming sensation of knowing that this is what I’m supposed to do, for my life. It was so nice to be able to express my music and connect with people in the audience on such a different level. It’s just music connects with all. It was very interesting to feel that presence in the room.

Kerri also recently dished on her EP ‘Lot 17’ and it was totally cool!
