In case you missed it, we recently caught up with the the 16-year-old singer — who just dropped his debut EP “Teenage Fever” earlier this month — to find out what it was like hearing his BFF (who’s also accompanying him on tour this spring and summer) put a new spin on his original:
“[The song is] about how women have to deal with a lot of dudes being bad guys, essentially. You know, women get cat called and things like that…but this time it’s different. The first time I heard [Hayden’s] voice on the track, I was pumped! I was in his car. he was like, “Yo listen to this.” It’s always cool to hearing other people like put their spin on your song.”
And this isn’t the first time Johnny’s worked closely with some of his best friends! He’s famously collaborated with Mackenzie Ziegler on both fan-favorite songs “What If” and “Day & Night,” and incorporated longtime friend Nadia Turner into his “Sleep” music video.
“It’s really cool having friends that are also in the entertainment space, because you can look to them for advice…and then you can also work with them, which is cool…especially for me, because I’m a solo act, so it’s fun to have a friend on set.”
