Sofia Wylie wants the characters she plays to be inspiring!
We recently caught up with the 15-year-old actress to talk about all things “Shook” — Disney Channel’s brand-new digital series, which follows Mia (played by Sofia), a shy teen who dreams of making it big in the world of dance — and while discussing the realistic relatability of her character, Sofia opened up about the importance of being a part of projects that are diverse in every way.
The power is in being able to see yourself, as a viewer, in the characters’ shoes, she explains:
“‘Andi Mack‘ was the first three-generational Asian American family represented on Disney, and now [I’m on] “Shook,” centered around a mixed family…everyone can really just see themselves on screen…to actually make a difference in somebody else’s life, that’s the dream. I hope you can really feel inspired.”
In case you missed it, the creator of “Andi Mack” recently teased a possible spin-off movie — which means we might not have to say goodbye to the fan-favorite series quite yet!
