Well, it almost happened! During a recent interview, the 22-year-old star (who’s returning to Netflix in the highly-anticipated “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” sequel next month) looked back at her HSMTMTS audition, and even revealed that she sang Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years” during the casting process. OMG! We need to see those tapes.
Lana also got real about why the original movies — and especially their lead, Gabriella (played by Vanessa Hudgens) — were, and still are, so important to her as both a superfan and as an actress:
“I looked up to Vanessa Hudgens since I was little because…[she’s] the first person that I’ve ever really seen that looks like me that has a lead role in something. So I’ve always looked up to her….And now there are girls, like me when I was little, that are probably looking up to me [as Lara Jean Covey]. [It’s] weird but I’m okay with it.”
In case you missed it, this is the important lesson Lana is taking away from her “To All The Boys” character Lara Jean!
