It’s the unapologetic self-care for me.
Let’s be real: Charli D’Amelio joining TikTok was a cultural reset. Flash forward one year and 80 million (and counting!) followers later, and this 16-year-old has solidified her title as the official dancing queen of the internet. And as the most popular user on the social media app that basically defined 2020, it’s no surprise that Charli receives a lot of attention online — but not all of it has passed the vibe check.
Though she’s gotten endless support for her lovable personality and amazing dancing skills, the teen queen has, unfortunately, also gotten her fair share of haters and internet trolls. How does she remain so positive despite it all? In a recent interview, Charli opened up about how she’s learned to deal with online negativity:
It was a lot more difficult at the beginning because, as a person, I’m pretty sensitive and I tend to take things to heart. […] Since then, I’ve really been able to become more confident in myself and surround myself with people that support me so I’m able to feel content with what I do and not care for the negative things.
