Spooky season means dressing up with your friends, binge-watching your favorite scary movies, and of course, trying pumpkin spice everything!
With social distancing mandates still in place, Halloween might look a little different this year — but that doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate. Whether you’re planning on having a friend or two over for a small and safe get-together, or you’re taking things online for the epic socially-distant soiree of your dreams, here are 10 steps to throwing a night-in you’ll remember.
1. Invite Your Friends
First thing’s first, you’re going to have to figure out who you want to invite. Is it just you and your besties on FaceTime, or are you sending out a mass-invite to your entire school to meet up on Google Hangout? No matter who you end up adding to the RSVP list, give your party guests something to look forward to with a fun, custom e-invitation.
2. Lock In A Theme
Keeping it casual with fun headbands and makeup? Going super scary with fake blood and masks? Or maybe everyone will be a different character from your favorite show? Get everyone on the same page to level-up your party aesthetic, and pick up some on-point decorations to tie everything together.
3. What To Wear
Costumes are the heart and soul of a good Halloween party. Our go-to? Stay on trend with a meme-able moment look or start a conversation by dressing up as a fan-favorite TV character. 4. Makeup Time
It’s a beauty bash! Don’t sweat it if you’re not an expert when it comes to all things makeup. The best place to pick up pro tips and tricks is from your favorite YouTube and TikTok stars. Sit in on their GRWM videos or sit-down tutorials, and you’ll be able to achieve the glam look your costume deserves!
5. Don’t Forget The Nails
Even though you never go wrong with maroon or dark gray nails for the fall, try matching your manicure to your costume, or decorate them with intricate details like spider webs or pumpkins. You can also do your friends nails to give your party a spooky spa-like twist!
6. Pumpkin Decorating
Bring the ‘Happy’ to ‘Happy Halloween’ by putting your painting and carving skills to the test with a fun pumpkin painting activity. Up for a challenge? You and your friends can even make it a race or have a contest to see who deserves the ultimate pumpkin carving crown.
7. Trick Or Treat’yoself! /strong>
If there’s one thing that is absolutely necessary for a perfect party it’s the yummy treats! Whether you make them yourself, or pick them up at your local bakery, having a few terrifyingly tasty snacks will off your night in the sweetest way possible.
8. Run A Costume Contest
Use categories like “most original costume,” “spookiest costume,” and “funniest costume,” and print out physical awards for your friends to take home. It’s silly, but it will bring back all the childhood nostalgia and make you feel like a little kid again!
9. Dance Party
When in doubt, dance it out! Before kicking off your boo bash, set up the perfect playlist and make sure to include Halloween themed songs to establish the spookiest mood possible! Once the vibe is right, throw in a couple of crowd pleasers, and have a dance party sing-along session.
10. Movie Night
When the night is done, grab some popcorn or leftover candy, get cozy under a blanket with your favorite Halloween movies! Not sure what to watch? Here are 11 classics we totally recommend.
