We’ve got the whozits and whatzits galore on this new film!

Let’s be real, we haven’t stopped thinking about Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid” since the multi-talented Halle Bailey announced her first leading-lady role as Ariel back in July! Now, nearly five months later, the fun-filled flick is ready to set sail with its newly announced cast!

Can’t wait to be under the sea? Dive into everything we know about this beloved Disney animation remake.

1. The cast is totally star-studded!
In case you missed it, Disney has already announced the long-awaited cast who will swim alongside Halle. You may recognize a few familiar voices and faces, like Awkwafina from 2019’s “The Angry Birds Movie 2” and Jacob Tremblay, who co-starred alongside Maddie Zieglar in “The Book of Henry.”

2. The music will be done by legendary composer Alan Menken.
Fun fact: The eight-time Oscar winner worked on the original 1989 movie! No stranger to Disney, Alan has also done the music for other animated classics, like 1991’s “Beauty and the Beast” and 1992’s “Aladdin.”

3. Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda will be writing new music!
As revealed back in March, the powerhouse behind “Hamilton” is writing the lyrics to four new original songs! Things. Just. Got. Epic.

4. We’re already huge fans of the director!
The project is directed by Rob Marshall, who brought us iconic film musicals — including “Mary Poppins Returns” and the 2014 mega-star production of “Into the Woods” that we all know and love.

5. They’re starting film production in London!
Back in November, our newest Disney princess took to Instagram Live alongside her sister Chloe Bailey, confirming production would begin in London in a few weeks!

6. We’re patiently waiting for an official release date!
Disney has yet to confirm when fans will get to be part of their world! In the meantime, you can definitely find us reliving our childhoods as we rewatch the original movie on Disney+.
