This YouTuber is using her roots to grow an earth-friendly message!
In case you missed it, we recently caught up with Ava Jules during our Instagram Live series Friends From Afar, and chatted the day away. The 20-year-old vlogger looked back on the unique start of her creator career (which may or may not have been sparked by a deep desire to flex her status as a Justin Bieber super fan), got real about the pressure to be perfect online, and teased her upcoming sustainable merch line!
The collection, which Ava hopes will urge other creators to follow suit and push for eco-friendlier alternatives to fast fashion, is set to drop later this year, and was in part inspired by her Hawaiian upbringing. The O’ahu native even gave us a mini language lesson, and shared the meaning of “Malama”:
“In Hawaiian culture, it’s said that if you take care of the land, the land will take care of you. It’s a good reminder…it’s easy for me to say ‘do all these things to be sustainable’ but, I’m aware that I have such a big platform of people who are impressionable and I do want to use that to help out in the ways that I can. I’m still learning too and I think it’s great that people can learn along with me,” she explained.
