The Latin music-inspired boy band – who just hit number one on three separate Billboard charts – just dropped their latest and greatest single, a collaboration with Latin-pop singer, Prince Royce, called “Llegaste Tú. But that’s not even the best part! Along with the song, the boys also dropped an epic music video that’s set on the beaches in Puerto Rico. Talk about a tropical vacation!
We recently caught up with the boys of CNCO to talk about all things “Llegaste Tú”: from their collaboration with Prince Royce to the story behind the music video, and everything in between. Can you tell us about your new single, “Llegaste Tú”?
Richard: The single is very special. It’s super cool ’cause we just got together with Royce, and we just got the idea to record a single and do a video for it. We knew him before, we met him a few times, but we’d never hung out like that, never had the opportunity to hang out and talk and really connect. So for that it was super cool that we got to hang out, we got to joke around and connect. And it was just a great vibe, you know we’re all around the same age, we’re from the same country, so it’s super cool.
What words would you use to describe the song?
Joel: Tropical, it has that vibe to it. And love.
Richard: A lot of energy in this video as well.
Where did the idea for the “Llegaste Tú music video come from?
Richard: We were [in Puerto Rico] for a while because we were rehearsing our tour. Royce came down and we just recorded it there, it was super cool, and yeah, it took us a full day to do it, so it was nice. The beach, the weather, the people, super cool.
Joel: It is a very tropical video I’d say, because it was recorded in Puerto Rico. It’s very colorful, it has a lot of life to it. You’re gonna definitely wanna dance once you hear it.
Is there an overall message you want fans to takeaway from your music?
Richard: I feel like just positivity, we talk about all positive things, we talk about love. And we talk about how we dance, so it’s all about that, it’s about partying and enjoying life, and also between ourselves as well, we just wanna prove to the youth that they can do whatever they dream of. We’re living proof of that, we came from nothing, and all of a sudden a TV show, we just believed in ourselves, and we just went for it, and it happened, you know? And we worked hard as well, so it’s cool that, that’s basically the message we want to bring, that you could achieve everything that you dream of.
What can fans expect from you guys in the future?
Joel: We’re gonna be releasing some more music soon, we’re recording a lot more too. We have a special collaboration that we recorded here in LA, with Meghan Trainor and Sean Paul. It’s a really good song, should be coming out very soon. So you have to stay tuned to our social media to see how that comes out. But we have a lot of other things planned out. The tour, we’re going to be coming to the United States on our own tour in January, so we’re really excited about that.
