This is Why Niall Horan Named His Debut Solo Album ‘Flicker’

During his iHeart Radio album release party, Niall Horan opened up about why he chose “Flicker” as the title of his debut solo album, and we totally agree with his decision!

On stage, the 24-year-old former One Direction singer revealed that when he first started writing and recording for the album, he came up with up-tempo songs like “Mirrors,” “The Tide,” and “On The Loose.” It wasn’t until writing “Flicker,” that gears shifted and he was able to write fan-favorites “Paper Houses and “Fire Away,” which have a noticeably different vibe to them.

“It was really a turning point in the making of the album. It was a poignant moment where [the album] kind of veered off into a different direction after I wrote “Flicker.” The recording of the song, as well, was a big moment…it’s one of those songs that I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of playing live. To me, it stands out.”

Were you over-the-moon excited to hear Niall’s first-ever solo album? You weren’t the only one! These fans totally flipped when they heard “Flicker” for the first time.
