Exclusive: Sophie Michelle Dishes on Her Inspiration Behind The ‘Stage Fright’ Theme Song ‘Someone Else in the Dark’

After watching the trailer for Brat TV’s mysterious new series “Stage Fright,” we have so many questions! But there’s one thing we know for sure…the theme song is an absolute bop.

In case you missed it, the modern take on a classic whodunnit story follows Sophie Michelle‘s character Lizzy, the stage manager for Crown Lake’s production of Phantom, as she unites unlikely allies to uncover the truth about a tragic accident that leaves the play’s lead (and Lizzy’s crush) Noah (played by Harrison Cone!) in a coma. And the best part? Sophie not only stars as the show’s protagonist, but also sings its opener “Someone Else in the Dark”!

We caught a sneak peek at the upbeat ballad last month when the talented 14-year-old performed it at Playlist Live (which you can still watch on our Instagram Highlights, @TigerBeatNow) and now the music video is finally here! To celebrate, we caught up with Sophie, who spilled about her inspiration behind the song:

“When I was writing it, I was thinking about what my character, Lizzy was going through in the show. In the series, Lizzy’s trying to uncover a mystery at her school and she’s going though all of these emotions, which is something I tried to channel. “Someone Else in the Dark” represents how people can appear one way, but be someone totally different. That’s a feeling I can definitely relate to!”

Don’t miss the official premiere of “Stage Fright,” March 26th at 3pm PST on Brat TV’s YouTube channel!
