Tiger Beat talks to Brec Bassinger

Tiger Beat: Hi Brec! When is your birthday?
Brec: It’s May 25, 1999

Tiger Beat: And where are you from?
Brec: My hometown is Saginaw, Texas.

Tiger Beat: Football is really big in Texas! Have you heard about girls playing football before in Texas?
Brec: Yeah, actually, in my middle school, there were two girls who were on the football team. They were kind of ridiculed, and it was really hard to see that happen, because they just wanted to play football. It wasn’t accepted all the time.

Tiger Beat: Were you friends with them?
Brec: I wasn’t best friends with them, but we were acquaintances. We went to school with each other for years.

Tiger Beat: Did they get to play in the games, or were they mostly on the bench?
Brec: They weren’t the star players, but they definitely got to play. It was really cool seeing them out there doing something they love.

Tiger Beat: Do you think they opened doors for other girls?
Brec: Absolutely! Actually, the first year, there was only one girl on the team. And the next year, another girl did it. I guess she saw one girl playing football, not caring what people thought, and she said, ‘Hey, I’m going to do that, too.’

Tiger Beat: That’s amazing! Thanks, Brec, talk to you again on the 17th, the same day the first episode of Bella & the Bulldogs airs (at 8 p.m.!). We can’t wait. Will you give us some behind-the-scenes secrets?
Brec: Absolutely! Bye!
