You may know that the 19-year-old actor is quite the talent from his role as Ricky Bowen in “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” but there’s so more to this skater boy, theater kid!

1. “High School Musical” was the first production Joshua was ever cast in. Almost a decade ago, he played the role of J.V. Jock No. 2 for his community theater! Who would have thought 10 years later, he would land a lead role in the Disney+ hit show? From community theater to breakout star, Joshua is proof that if you get your head in the game, anything is possible!
2. He plays multiple instruments. Not only is the 19-year old “HSMTMTS” star an actor, singer, and songwriter, but he knows how to play three instruments: piano, guitar, and drums. BRB, while we go attempt to learn just one!
3. He co-wrote “Just for a Moment” for the “HSMTMTS” soundtrack. Writing music has always been a passion of Joshua’s, but to have one of his songs selected for the series’ soundtrack is ultimate goals! The song was written with co-star Olivia Rodrigo, and the process was “magical.” Give it a listen HERE!
4. He didn’t have a lot of previous dance experience. Unlike a lot of his co-stars, Joshua came into “HSMTMTS” as a beginner, but after lots of practice, he totally became a pro! We’re definitely looking forward to seeing more of his awesome moves in the next season.
5. He wrote the song “Common Sense” while driving his car! It’s obvious that Joshua is clearly multi-talented, but he’s quite the multi-tasker too! Believe it or not, he came up with the lyrics and voice recorded the entire track while driving, and then hammered out the guitar chords in the parking lot of a mall. We’re officially impressed!
6. He has five sisters. Joshua comes from a big family, and quite a talented one too. All of his sisters have a passion for dancing, his father is a pro drummer and pianist, and his mom grew up playing the drums as well. This fam has got the music in them!
7. He previously played a recurring role in Disney Channel’s “Stuck in the Middle.” If you haven’t seen him shine on screen as Aidan Peters, you should totally binge the show’s third season ASAP!
8. He’s a big fan of the original “High School Musical” movies. Having watched them all multiple times, “HSM2” is his all time fav out of the three movies. In fact, when it came time for the 19-year old actor to perform the songs from the original movie, he still remembered all of the lyrics, without having to relearn them! Guess you can say, “once a Wildcat, ALWAYS a Wildcat!”
