Jack & Jack have come a long way since their early days on Vine!

The boys (Jack Gilinsky and Jack Johnson), who are currently touring with fan-favorite boy band PRETTYMUCH, recently gave us the inside scoop on all things J&J — including their original group name!

Because they were already famous on social media (having racked up over 700,000 followers) when they decided to put out their first song, Jack and Jack were worried that they wouldn’t be taken seriously as musicians. In order to disguise themselves, they dropped their debut track “Chill Pad Deluxe” or “CPD” on SoundCloud under the artist name “Indoor Recess”.

The laugh-out-loud hilarious part? Fans were totally confused! They knew the boys as Jack & Jack from Vine, and couldn’t tell what the title of the song was.

“They had no idea what the song was called, or what we were called! So, eventually we just ended up changing it from “Chill Pad Deluxe -Indoor Recess” to “Indoor Recess -Jack & Jack”. And the song is now called Indoor Recess, even though that’s supposed to be the group name.”
