Ross Butler is setting the record straight!

In a recent interview, the former Disney Channel actor opened up about his decision to leave “Riverdale” for “13 Reasons Why,” and his reasoning totally makes sense! Ross originally played Reggie Mantle (who is now played by Charles Melton) in the first season of The CW’s teen mystery-drama, but chose to leave the show so he could focus on one character, rather than splitting himself into two characters and having smaller roles on both shows.

And when it came to deciding which character to stick with, Ross landed on Zach Demsey because he connected to him on a much deeper level:

“Reggie’s a great character, but it’s a different tone. I connected with Zach on a much more real level where I didn’t have to create so much of a character for him. Reggie’s more outspoken, like that jock archetype. Zach is too, but Zach has more colors, at least from what I saw.”

In case you missed it, Ross recently spilled even more secrets about his connection to his character, Zach!
